Vertical Innovation: engineered wood

What is Xlam?

Xlam (also known as CLT - Cross Laminated Timber) is not simply wood: it is a revolutionary construction technology. It is an engineered material composed of layers of solid wood lamellae crossed perpendicularly and structurally glued under high pressure.

This orthogonal crossing of the fibers cancels the natural "vulnerability" of the wood, giving two-dimensional stability and mechanical resistance.

The advantages.

Sustainability (Zero Carbon Target)

Xlam wood comes from certified forests with controlled management. It acts as a real "treasure chest" that sequesters carbon, rather than releasing it into the atmosphere, drastically reducing the ecological footprint of the building compared to traditional materials.

Construction site speed and prefabrication

The panels arrive on site already shaped to the millimeter thanks to numerical control cutting. This means quick assembly, clean, quiet construction sites and a reduction in construction time.

Anti-seismic excellence

Thanks to its natural elasticity combined with the rigidity of the crossed panels and the ductility of the mechanical connections, the Xlam offers an extraordinary seismic response, dissipating the energy of the earthquake in an optimal way.

Fire resistance

Contrary to myths, solid wood burns slowly and chars from the outside in. The carbonization process creates a protective layer that insulates the core of the panel, ensuring a structural strength that can be calculated and is superior to that of many metals.

Energy efficiency and thermal comfort

It has superior insulating properties to concrete and bricks. It helps eliminate thermal bridges and naturally regulate indoor humidity, making it easier to achieve NZEB (Nearly Zero Energy Buildings) and ZECB (Zero Emission Carbon Buildings) standards.

Strategic applications.

The versatility of the CLT allows you to overcome the limits of traditional green building, finding space in ambitious projects.

Thanks to its extraordinary structural lightness, Xlam is the material of choice for adding floors to existing buildings or for urban densification interventions, without overloading the original foundations.

The Xlam allows the transition to entirely sustainable neighborhoods, guaranteeing ample architectural lights and an interior design that can leave the wood "exposed" for a unique biophilic well-being.

Communities benefit from the healthiness of indoor air (absence of harmful emissions) and the structural safety of CLT, creating environments that promote well-being.
