The intervention on the Carisma RSA in Bergamo represents an exemplary model of integrated redevelopment (energy and seismic) on an existing social and health building of territorial importance. MIR Solution led the operation as general manager, dealing with the general coordination, integrated design (architectural, energy, structural and fire-fighting) and construction management, making use of the synergy between internal skills and external professionals with proven experience.

The main strategic challenge of the project was the management of a complex construction site, ensuring the full operation of the structure during all phases of work. For this reason, the team opted for cutting-edge technical solutions with low impact and quick installation, protecting the continuity of health and care activities.

interventions

Envelope and dry insulation

An external thermal insulation system with high-performance dry technology has been created. This choice has made it possible to optimize the thermo-hygrometric performance of the building and reduce energy losses, while ensuring fast installation times compatible with the needs of the structure.

Safety and seismic improvement

The external isolation system has been integrated with a structural intervention aimed at anti-overturning of the perimeter walls. To complete the seismic works, seismic dissipators and reinforcement plates were installed on the structural nodes, significantly increasing the building's resistance capacity.

Energy efficiency and systems

In addition to the enhancement of the opaque envelope (insulation of the roof and dispersing surfaces), the external windows and doors have been replaced. The previous thermal generation system has been replaced with a new high-efficiency system based on a heat pump, drastically reducing consumption and climate-changing emissions.
